In addition to the trend towards automation in manufacturing technology, the rotational molding process also has new developments in aspects such as mold and heating methods, such as in-mold pressure technology (i.e., pressurizing the structure by injecting air during a certain period of the heating and cooling stages); in-mold cooling technology (reducing heating and cooling time, shortening the processing cycle); and improvements in technologies like infrared microwave heating, enhancing the efficiency and quality of the molding process.
Despite the significant development of rotational molding, there are still many shortcomings compared to injection molding and extrusion processes, and there are many areas that need improvement in rotational molding. The development prospects of rotational molding equipment are mainly focused on the following aspects:
1. Modern processing and molding technology
In addition to the trend towards manufacturing automation, there are also new developments in the rotational molding process in terms of molds and heating methods, such as in-mold pressurization technology (i.e., pressurizing the structure by injecting air during a certain period of heating and cooling); in-mold cooling technology (reducing heating and cooling time, shortening processing cycle); and technologies like infrared microwave heating to improve the efficiency and quality of molding processing.
2. New epoxy resins for rotational molding
Developing materials with a wide range of applications is of great significance for the development of rotational molded products. In addition to polyethylene resin, developing rotational molding-specific materials such as polypropylene, polyethylene, polypropylene copolymer, polyester, ASS, SAN, and polyurethane elastomers is necessary to meet the needs of product processing and molding.
3. Improving the automation level and precision of rotational molding equipment
The automation level of modern rotational molding equipment is still significantly different from that of injection molding. If the automation level of the equipment can be improved to reduce the processing cycle of rotational molded products, its competitiveness with other processing methods will further increase.
4. Product design and decoration
There is a trend to use rotational molding technology to produce products with extraordinary creativity, and their surface and design patterns are beneficial to enhance the competitiveness of rotational molded products.
Rotational molding technology has strong vitality and is a processing technology that deserves high attention. It is important to focus on the rotational molding process and use it to produce various cost-effective plastic products. Especially in comparison with capitalist countries, China's rotational molding technology still has a significant gap, and it is necessary to actively absorb superior foreign technologies, increase research on related processes, rotational molding equipment, and molds, accelerate the formulation of national standards for rotational molding, and continuously provide high-quality rotational molded products to the market.
